General Purposes:
- To promote reverence for the Name of the Most Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and to praise and venerate the Most Holy Name of God.
- To promote the spiritual welfare of the members of the Parish by encouraging them to observe the practices of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Name of Jesus; namely, the frequent reception of the sacraments, the honoring of the Most Holy Name by an active religious life, and by working against all things which offend the Most Holy Name of Jesus.
- To foster the observance of the promises contained in the Holy Name Pledge.
- To assist the members to participate more intimately in the life of the Church to fulfill the demands of the Lay Apostolate; for example, by serving in such capacities as extra-ordinary ministers, lectors, ushers, involvement in study or prayer groups, or by serving as a Christian witness in some other way within the Tehachapi community.
Specific Purposes:
- To attend mass once a month as a Holy Name Society. (Traditionally, the regular Holy Name Sunday is the second Sunday of the month.)
- To educate the members, through lecture and discussion programs, the works of the Lay Apostolate. This may take the form of study, discussion, or invited presentations.
- To promote closed retreats for members, and to sponsor a periodic retreat for members of the Parish.
- To encourage the distribution of Catholic literature consistent with current Church teachings and the currently accepted Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- To be of service to the Parish, and to be of service to other organizations within the Parish and within the community. Such service is to be mutually acceptable to the parties concerned, and with approval of the Pastor, or his delegate.
