MARRIAGE/ HOLY MATRIMONY:
The celebration of Marriage is a holy and sacramental sign of the inseparable life-giving union of the Holy Trinity and of the inseparable and life-giving union between Jesus Christ and His people, the Church!
We are very happy to help you prepare for a beautiful wedding ceremony and to assist with your own particular questions and needs, whether you are planning a wedding with us or need assistance preparing for a wedding elsewhere.
Do you have questions about previous relationships, divorces, annulments, or about wedding requirements? Please call or make an appointment with the pastor, we are very happy to help! 661-822-3040
Common Questions:
May a Catholic have a Catholic wedding with someone who is not Catholic? yes
Must a nonCatholic become Catholic to marry a Catholic in a Catholic Church? no
Is it absolutely necessary for a Catholic to receive First Communion and Confirmation before marriage? no
Must a Catholic be married in a Catholic ceremony, at a Catholic Church? YES, except in some very specific situations in which permission for an exemption may be granted for a good reason.
Before making plans with a wedding reception venue, please meet with your pastor. You cannot assume that the date you are hoping for is open and available, as we have only one pastor and there are many services of all kinds throughout the year.
What should you bring to your wedding appointment? Just a smile and any questions you may have. If you have copies of any certificates (Baptism, Confirmation, marriage in a courthouse or previous marriages, etc) it would be helpful to bring those along.
You may wish to come to the church office or call to request a free copy of our Marriage Preparation Booklet ahead of time which may be very helpful to you.

HOLY ORDERS/ RELIGIOUS VOCATION:
Saint Malachy's can happily boast of several religious vocations from families of this parish. Although we do not have any formal classes on the Religious Life, we do have several parish organizations and ministries that can help you find what you are looking for. There are many opportunities to grow in holiness as you respond to God speaking to your heart. There is also a Norbertine convent in Tehachapi that offers additional prayer opportunities.
LAST RITES/ ANOINTING OF THE SICK:
If you are preparing to have serious surgery, or have a serious sickness or disability or are in danger of death, please call the parish office and request the Anointing of the Sick. We can arrange for someone to visit you and bring you Communion.
